GoByBike BC encourages British Columbians to ride their bikes or use other forms of active transportation as much as possible. Whether it’s to work, to school, for fun, for exercise, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to stretch your legs between meetings, or to clear your mind.

Any kind of people-powered transportation, including scooters, rollerblades, and wheelchairs, riding an E-bike, walking, running, horseback riding or a mix of them counts, too! The idea is to reduce using a private vehicle as much as possible to help reduce emissions that contribute to climate change and poor air quality – and we want GoByBike Week to be as inclusive and accessible as possible.

GoByBike BC Society is a registered non-profit society governed by a board of directors. The society’s vision is “a future where everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy of cycling – for work, for play, for well-being, for the planet.” This initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education and Child Care.

To take part, people can register at GoByBikeBC.ca, where they can sign up as an individual or as part of a team, and begin logging their active transportation kilometres and see how quickly those kilometres and greenhouse gas savings add up!

Many in the Williams Lake community took part in Spring 2025 GoByBike Week, with 155 registered riders, including 75 new participants!

A total of 3,618 kilometres were logged, saving a potential 784 kilograms of greenhouse gas emissions.

Registered participants who log their rides also have a chance to win some amazing local and provincial prizes (to be announced).
