Heat Safety

It is an exciting time welcoming students back for the new school year – and as the fun continues, we want to make sure they are staying safe in the increased heat. Currently, we are experiencing above average September temperatures and as a result, there is a heat guidance issued for multiple areas in the Interior Health region, and we can see that the temperatures will last for several more days.

To help children enjoy the outdoors, and playgrounds, Interior Health put together some simple tips for parents and staff to use to keep children safe during the heat: Stay Safe in the Heat

Wildfire Smoke

Please be aware that schools are guided by the advice of the BC Centre for Disease Control and Interior Health for monitoring and responding to air quality issues such as smoky skies due to wildfires.  Please see the BCCDC Wildfire FactSheet Smoke and the AQHI for more information.
